Jacksonville covers 840 square miles — the largest city by area in the continental United States — and the beaches are 17 miles from downtown. A rental car is strongly recommended. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) runs buses citywide, a free Skyway monorail loops downtown, and a river taxi connects Northbank and Southbank docks.
